Hurricane Isaias has strengthened into the first hurricane of the 2026 Atlantic season and is forecast to reach the U.S. central Gulf Coast this weekend.
The storm is expected to bring heavy rainfall, flooding, high winds, and storm surge to portions of the Gulf Coast. Landfall is currently expected Friday night as a strong Category 2 hurricane.
A Hurricane Warning is in effect from Ocean Springs, Mississippi, to the Bay/Gulf County Line in Florida. A Storm Surge Warning is also in effect from the mouth of the Mississippi River to the Steinhatchee River in Florida.
